Does anyone honestly believe our prison system is doing anyone any good? It’s interesting to me how everyone points out racial inequality in prison, but no one reaches out the to black community to help the problem. We usually go a step in the opposite direction, and weasel our way into their neighborhoods, and pump money in. Then the rent goes up, you have even less food, and more motivation to sell drugs (it’s a job that’s always in demand). Not everyone can work at Macy’s, wash cars, flip burgers, or build rockets, but everyone’s expected to have money–these people aren’t criminals, but money hardly scratches the surface of the issue. There are people who should be separated from the rest of society, people who’ve severe psychological problems. They need mental help, not police brutality, dark rooms, or death sentences. Any good prisons do is for those who own them.
