Life of the Party

For me, one of the worst feelings in the world is to sit with someone, knowing that you both know there’s not much ground for conversation, and reaching for it anyway. I hate trying to talk to someone. The only thing worse than forcing a conversation is small talk. Some people can sit with people they either hardly know, or don’t know at all, and just go on and on about nothing–I always end up in that group–that’s superb at talking about absolutely nothing. I just can’t do it, if I can’t connect, I’d rather drink alone in silence.

  1. This is one of those situations where a cloak of invisibility would be useful. That way you could just sit in the corner, sipping your drink, watching the struggles of your fellow part goers with amusement. If you heard a conversation where you felt you truly had something to say, you could just take the cloak off and join right in. How sad it is that such inventions are reserved for science instead of being
utilised for the comfort of the human race!
