Empathy

Empathy is the ability to mentally place yourself in another person’s shoes–view the burden of life through eyes that are not our own. The idea here is that if everyone helps each other then nobody’s in need. And I don’t know what’s scarier: the fact that we have to force people to show empathy, or how it’s so easily defeated by nationalism, racism, gender, or any other word that divides us–illusionary divisions. We’re all just people who by virtue of birth are entitled to enjoy our time on this rotating rock. It’s a pity we have to fight each other just for that.
